Affordable Home Foundation (AHF) was initially funded through philanthropy. The funding is used to finance the construction of a house and administrative costs of AHF. When a house is sold the proceeds from the sale replenish the fund for the construction of the next house.
AHF participates with the Missouri Department of Economic Development Neighborhood Preservation Act (NPA) tax credit program. AHF receives the tax credits based on 15% of construction costs. The tax credits are sold at a discount to a bank in order to transfer the tax credits to cash for AHF. These funds go into funding the next home.
